Come See Downton Abbey better known as Highclere Castle

We will pick you up at 0700 and drive straight to Bampton in Oxfordshire the village used a location for Downton village it’s a lovely little village that goes back to medieval times. We will arrive there at around 10.30.am

BAMPTON

Here you will be able to walk the “Downton mile”

You will see Crawley House, The Green where the war memorial was placed

Various houses that were filmed as the Grantham arms, the post office, the hospital and much more. Here you will have time to wander around.

HAVE LUNCH IN BAMPTON

You can enjoy a lunch while still in Bampton at The Clanfield Tavern. A sample menu above prices may vary,

St Mary's Bampton

You might still have time to wander in the footsteps of the Crawley Families many weddings funerals etc at the delightful church that dates back to the 9th century, with a 13th century spire added and carved stone reredos of Christ and his Apostles from about 1400.

Highclere Garden

after lunch, we will then make our way to Highclere Castle around 45 minutes away, your tickets will be from 2.30 where you will go on a self-guided tour of the house and grounds and also the Egyptian exhibition. You can stop for a cup of tea and maybe a cake in the café there in the grounds of the castle absorbing the splendour of the castle.

Heading home

Meeting back at the transport at 4.45 as the castle closes at 5pm

For the drive home you will return to Dover for around 19.30 pm
